Closing date for Stockton Centre scrapped BEN SMEE 27 Apr, 2011 01:48 PM THE new state government is committed to keeping the crumbling Stockton Centre open, ageing and disability minister Andrew Constance said today. Mr Constance and Newcastle MP Tim Owen met with members of the Stockton Hospital Welfare Association this morning, and confirmed it had scrapped the previous closure date of 2018. In the weeks before the election, the previous government reversed its 2009 decision to close the centre, but its future was only guaranteed until 2018.
